Read the directions first!

Now that I hear I have a few more lurkers I’m not so sure that this is a good next post (my manly reputation is at stake)…but you’re all welcome anyway πŸ™‚

Do you remember in grade school when they gave you this read all the directions first” test” when there were only like 2 minutes left in class? And 99% of the class just started writing like crazy…because nobody ever reads directions first.

So…I had to do this dance with other dads and then with Colleen…and all they sent home was a hard hat, construction vest, and inflatable hammer…I thought that was the entire costume. That first dress rehearsal was a little awkward when I showed up like this…yikes!

Got to read those directions first! πŸ™‚ I added a t-shirt, etc to my attire and was ready to go by the time my big day arrived. But…let’s not rush into more pictures of “Dave Thompson trying to steal the show at Colleen’s dance recital” (as Facebook now says – grrrrrr – they should make it easier to UN-friend people!). Here are some pictures of the girls wrapping up another great dance season with Tina.

Colleen did a duet for the first time this year. It was a great routine and they had a lot of fun coming up with the dance and then doing the dance. At one of the performances there was a photographer who did an amazing job capturing action photos in the strangest positions. This picture apparently brought Beth into a fit of laughter (the “pregnancy cackle” is back!!!) in front of the other moms & daughters when the photo was brought up on the screen (ask Colleen how embarrassing that was for her on a scale of 1 to 10)…and so they bought the photo to be used at future rehearsal dinners & graduation parties πŸ™‚

Do you even recognize this woman? Crazy, huh?

Colleen was in 6 dances this year at this past weekend’s recital and Megan was in a couple too. Here’s Megan dancing to “working 9 to 5” – it was cute…and maybe now we can con her into sweeping the floor at home!

And finally, the pictures you’ve been waiting for. I’m still a bit disappointed that I missed the Michael Jackson theme last year and didn’t get to wear a sparkly glove and sequined pants. The father-daughter theme this year was construction workers – and it actually wasn’t even close to as bad as I’ve been worrying about for the past 4 years. We had a lot of fun. So let’s start with the after picture…

Oh yah, we’ve got our moves down! What do you have to say about that Bruno???

And here was our ending pose (everybody got to pick what they wanted to do – at first I was doing the back breaker thing with Colleen laying under me but that didn’t work out so well)…

And, finally, my moment of fame…which I’m sure will soon be going viral at the fire station and work thanks to a fire fighter in the audience of the dance…

Didn’t realize you had two postings so close together when I commented last night. You really make us proud. At least they had a Bob the Buillder theme with construction worker attire and you didn’t have to wear a tutu. Looks like the lift went well. Can’t wait to see the video. I commented last night how much the 3 young Ts are looking older. All dolled up your girls really look like young ladies. Their growing up way too fast, but keep enjoying all the activities. These years with your kids pass way too quickly and there’s no going back.

I thought at first your lurker comment was about me on Facebook (and maybe it is intended somewhat for me). Although I don’t think I qualify as a lurker on Facebook since I don’t even go on to see what others are up to.

Good luck trying to con Megan into sweeping the floor. I would be careful, she impresses me as a little con artist herself – especially with that cute smile of hers. Colleen really looks gown up in that one picture. I can see why the other picture might not be her favorite. Let me guess – I would say a 10. In the video clip will they be going a cartwheel? I think I’ve seen Chineese acrobats in similar poses, but they are doing cartwheels.

Glad you had fun with the guys and your gals. Sometimes there are more activities for dads to do with sons and not so many with daughters. I bet your fellow fire fighters will have fun with pictures from your dance debut. Don’t worry, it will probably just be from jealousy – if so maybe Tina can help you form a dance troupe of Eden Praire fire fighters.

The picture doesn’t show it, but I assume you wore pants to the dress rehersal (even though they might not have been mentioned in the instructions) – Yikes ! Good lesson for your kids – always read the instructions first.

This is grandma and mom – I was having trouble on my web page, so dad told me to look at your blog on his. That dance number looked cute. You and Colleen definitely had better moves that any of the other father/daughter teams. However, I’m sure you must having been dancing with someone else other than Colleen, because that dancer looked too old to be our little Colleen. What fun you both seem to be having. I loved all your randomness pictures of Easter, Wolf Lodge, here in NH and MA, Christopher’s party, soccer, hamburger joint, etc. It’s so nice to see what is happening with your family. I definitely want to make a copy of the three kids with the yellow jonquils and the one of your family at Wolf Lodge. Tell Megan she can run here when she leaves home, but she has to earn her keep!! I love the picture of you and the rainbows. Nice job! Hope to see you all soon. Love, Mom

I still can’t stop laughing at that picture of Colleen- I can’t wait until she is on her first date to hear what the blog has to say about what her date thought of that picture. Thanks for always keeping us up to date with everyone. It makes us all feel so much closer. Love to you all.
